The first trailer has released for the return of Netflix’s Squid Game, and fans have already been combing the background for hidden details to figure out what’s going to be in the new season.

The Korean show was a massive unexpected hit, taking Netflix and the world by storm.

It led to a Netflix reality show based on the game within Squid Game, as well as a Mr Beast video copying the concept.

For those who live under a rock, it sees people from across South Korea offered the chance to play a series of childhood games for a huge amount of money, 45.6 billion won, or the equivalent of around £28 million.

The catch is that they are killed if they fail to complete the game.

Season two sees the game being restarted, with the winning protagonist Seong Gi-Hun returning to the Squid Game.

Fans have looked in the background of the trailer and managed to spot a hidden detail which shows one of the games they think is set to be included in season two.

Check out the season two trailer below and see if you can spot it:

Spot it?

If you aren’t as eagle eyed as some fans don’t worry, I didn’t even spot it in my first couple watches of the trailer.

Fans on the subreddit r/SquidGame noticed, in the background of one particular shot set within the room where the titular Game takes place, a painting on the walls of people traversing across what appear to be ‘hand ropes’.

They posted this with the caption: “Looks like hand rope traversing will be one of the games in Season 2.”

One fan had another theory on the game, commenting: “Deffo monkey bars, over a giant pit. I think this will replace tug of war”.

Another said: “Maybe monkey bars”, whilst another replied: “Maybe over a giant pit full of water and gators?”

Fans have been loving the season two trailer, ahead of its release on Boxing Day of this year, 2024.

One comment on YouTube read: “Get ready for squid game to be #1 on netflix for several months again.”

Another said: “It looks like they're taking all the winners from the previous games and putting them onto grand tournament, amazing!”

Whilst a third commented: “I am so excited for this and have so many questions. Its so weird to see Gi hun with a gun but i expect no less after everything he went through in season 1.

“I really wish characters like sae byeok and ali would return even if it was through a hallucination or an unseen moment.”
