With Netflix being the number one most subscribed streamer in the world, if you’re the top show on Netflix, you’re almost always the de facto number one show in the world.
If that’s the case, then Netflix’s newest number one show is absolutely worthy of that spot.
The new top dog on the platform is a mistaken identity thriller that has been dubbed a ‘masterpiece’, and is so full of twists and turns that by the end of watching it, you won’t know which way is up and which way is down.

Add to that the fact it is starring Colman Domingo, one of the frontrunners for this year’s Oscars with one of the most underrated filmography’s in Hollywood right now, and it is a clear must watch. Check out the trailer here:
The show in question is called The Madness, and follows Domingo as a CNN pundit Muncie Daniels.
Daniels heads into the isolated woods to a cabin in order to finish off his book which many would say is the first mistake of most thriller characters, going into the woods alone.

This mistake comes to the fore when he discovers his cabin’s neighbour chopped up into pieces and has to go on the run.
He ends up being suspect number one in the murder and falls into a web of conspiracy.

“I'm quite impatient with series, if they don't catch my attention in the first minutes, I give up, however, I ended up binge-watching this one in one night.”
Lucy Mangan of The Guardian gave the show four stars, saying: “The Madness gains heft as it goes along, becoming a portrait of a world in which the truth is whatever you want it to be and a great fantasy will always beat reality when it comes to gaining followers and traction.”.
William Goodman of The Wrap said in their review of the show: “Even when, well, the madness of The Madness unfolds, Domingo’s performance is a steady hand; the same charisma that’s made him endlessly watchable in recent years is on display in spades.”

The leading performance from Domingo is widely agreed to be the strongest part of the show.
Domingo is considered one of the frontrunners for an Oscar nomination this year for A24’s Sing Sing in which he plays a man falsely imprisoned who joins a jail theatre group.
Variety currently have Domingo as the fourth favourite for the award behind Timothee Chalamet’s turn as Bob Dylan, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave, and Adrien Brody for the three and a half hour The Brutalist.
