What a year of film it’s been, from Barbie to Oppenheimer we’ve had all sorts to watch.
I mean, Netflix alone has been dropping new releases like there’s no tomorrow – well, according to Leave the World Behind anyway.
Just last week we were all swept up in the much-anticipated release of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget ,but now the streaming site has dropped its most expensive film of the year.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is so mega it had to be split into two parts, with Part One: A Child of Fire launching on Netflix yesterday (22 December).
According to Vanity Fair, it’s estimated to have cost a whopping $166million (£130million) to make, and features stars Charlie Hunnam, Sofia Boutella, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein and Fra Fee.

The film’s summary reads: “When a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, a mysterious stranger living among its villagers becomes their best hope for survival.”
But as viewers start taking in Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, they’re beginning to make the same complaint.
Now, Hunnam is pretty well-known for having a weird ‘half English, half American’ accent, despite being from Newcastle, and it’s something he’s acknowledged himself.

And in the new Netflix film, the Brit plays Kai, who has a Northern Irish accent.
Viewers were quick to write on X: “Bro Charlie Hunnam can NOT do an Irish accent.”
Another slammed: “Charlie Hunnam, born and raised in England, always sounds like someone trying and failing at putting on a British accent so no idea how he thought he could pull off an Irish accent.”
While another shared a smirking Hunnam GIF and wrote: “I've put on Rebel Moon (which so far is truly awful) and Charlie Hunnam just turned up with a Northern Irish accent...”

Others also put: “Charlie Hunnam’s Irish accent is a CHOICE,” as many said there were ‘zero reasons’ to make him do it.
And one slammed: “I tried with #RebelMoon, I really did. But Charlie Hunnam doing a really bad Northern Irish accent was the last straw. Don't ask this man do any other accent apart from Geordie please.”
The first Rebel Moon film has had rather mixed reviews as critics rate it just 23 percent on the Tomatometer but audiences give it 69 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
