The celebrity chef and host of The Great British Bake Off Paul Hollywood has made a name for himself in both the culinary and entertainment industries.
Beginning his career as a sculptor, Hollywood was soon convinced by his father to join the family baking business. His innate talent quickly saw him become head baker at a number of high-end hotels such as The Chester Grosvenor and The Dorchester, according to the chef’s own website.
When The Great British Bake Off was launched in 2010, Hollywood was, naturally for a professional baker, appointed as a judge. Almost instantly he became a fan favourite TV personality as his straight-talking judging style provided a refreshing contrast to the over-commercialised judges on shows like X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. When The Great British Bake Off controversially moved to Channel 4 in 2017, Hollywood decided to move with the show whilst national treasure Mary Berry opted for departure. Although Hollywood came under significant fire from the public for appearing to support the move in favour of a more lucrative deal, he remains a judge with the show set to air its thirteenth season this year.

Surprisingly, despite the abundant financial profits, Hollywood stated recently in an interview with The Times that, had he known all the ramifications of becoming a TV chef, he “would have questioned joining Bake Off”. In the eye-opening interview, Hollywood expresses his desire for privacy and takes serious issue with the paparazzi camping outside his house just to snap pictures of him. Interestingly, he also mentioned his love of Lego!
The Sun reported that Hollywood lives in a £1.45 million mansion in Kent which sits on over 10 acres of land and owns a £225,000 Aston Martin.
