After Megan Fox announced that she and Machine Gun Kelly were engaged – having shared the news in a fairly bizarre Instagram post – many people have been left wondering what that might mean for her marital name.
Of course, there’s a chance she’ll buck tradition and keep her own surname, but in her previous marriage to Brian Austin Green – with whom she shares three children – she decided to become Mrs Green, later requesting to change back to her maiden name as she filed for divorce in 2020.
Now people are questioning what her name might become when she marries a rapper called Machine Gun Kelly, with one joking on Twitter: “I want her to change her name to Megan Gun Kelly so bad.”
Responding to the post, someone else pointed out: “This tweet insinuates that Machine is his first name and Gun Kelly is his last name. Very interesting.”
Food for thought, for sure – what about Me-Gun Kelly?
Referencing the couple’s story about the first time they met, a third suggested: “If Megan Fox and MGK don’t take the surname ‘weed’ imma be very disappointed.”
Others pointed out that Machine Gun Kelly isn’t actually the star’s name, and that if Fox does take his surname things may end up sounding a little more normal.
One person said: "No Megan Fox will become Megan Baker. MEGAN BAKER. BAKER.”
Another wrote: “Bruh just learned MGK’s real name is Colson Baker. Lmfaoooooo Megan Baker way.”
A third added: If Megan Fox actually changes her surname to MGK’s real surname when they marry she wld named Megan Baker which doesn’t provide the same cool girlness as Megan Fox.
"Megan Fox is a smoke show, Megan Baker is the wife of the youth pastor. That’s what U get 4 marrying a Midwesterner.”
Yesterday, the pair revealed that they had become engaged, with Fox posting footage of the happy moment on Instagram.
She wrote: "In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree.
"We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.
"Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.
"Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.
"And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes... and then we drank each other's blood."
As you do.
Also posting a video of the ring he gave Fox, Machine Gun Kelly said: "Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, I brought her back to ask her to marry me.
"I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love."
