People In UK Are All Saying The Same Thing As James Corden Quits US Talk Show

The London-born star has now revealed he’ll be stepping down from the late-night talk show next year

People in the UK are all saying the same thing after James Corden announced he’d be leaving his US talk show, saying he hopes there will be ‘one more adventure’ out there for him.

Corden started hosting The Late Late Show seven years ago after taking the reins from Craig Ferguson, with his first show premiering in March 2015.

However, the London-born star has now revealed he’ll be stepping down from the late-night talk show, saying he feels ‘immensely proud’ of what he’s achieved.

He added that he will being doing one more year behind the desk, before it would be time to move on.

Corden told Deadline: “It’s been it’s a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show.

“I’m thrilled to be extending [for a year]. I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave, and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure.”

Corden added: “My bosses here at CBS have been incredibly supportive and extraordinarily patient with me while I made this decision.”

Ben Winston, Cordon’s executive producer on the show, tweeted to say that they had signed for one more year, heaping praise on the presenter as ‘the most talented guy in the world’.

Winston wrote: “The end of an era – but not just yet. Delighted we’ve signed for another year. But it will be our last. The greatest job of our lives is coming to an end.

“There has been no greater joy than going to work each day with my best mate and the most talented guy in the world.”

But across the pond, many people weren’t quite so thrilled by the news – with many people jumping to say the same thing after the news broke.

One person tweeted: “A reminder that the UK isn't taking James Corden back.”

Someone else said: “I don't want James Corden back in the UK, please keep him USA.”

A third wrote: “First, we were threatened with the return of Miranda to our TV screens, and now this. James Corden may return to the UK. How much more suffering can we take?”

A fourth also joked: “James Corden is apparently returning to the UK. The police have said they are taking this threat very seriously and will be increasing security on the set of the Wicked movie to be safe.”

Some people tried to see a potential silver lining from the situation, speculating if his departure from the talk show would give him the opportunity to give Gavin and Stacey fans what they want.

One said: “James Corden needs to make more Gavin and Stacey, or retire. Those are the options I’ll accept.”

Another added: “With @JKCorden leaving the USA does that mean….. Gavin and Stacey will be back soon????”

In a monologue released ahead of Thursday night's episode, Corden told his audience that working on the show had been beyond his 'wildest, wildest dreams'.

He continued: "When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that. It was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination, you know?

"And I never want this show to overstay its welcome in any way. I always want to love making it. And I really think in a year from now that will be a good time to move on and see what else might be out there."

He added: "We are all determined to make this the best year we have ever had making this show. We are going to go out with a bang.

"There is going to be Carpools, and Crosswalks, and sketches and other surprises.

"And there will be tears. There will be so many tears. 'Cause this has been the hardest decision I've ever had to make, it really has. I've never taken this job for granted. Ever. Not once. And…  the fact that you watch us at home. Or you watch us online. Wherever you are, all over the world. The fact that we get to try and entertain you and spend time with you is an absolute privilege for me and every single person who makes this show."
