Piers Morgan has revealed what he aims to achieve with his new TalkTV show, which launches next week, admitting he wants to wind up ‘cancel culture imbeciles’ while also ‘standing up for democracy’ and free speech.
His latest project, Piers Morgan: Uncensored, comes just over a year after he quit Good Morning Britain, having stormed off set following an argument with colleague Alex Beresford about comments on Meghan Markle.
In a TalkTV Q&A with press including LADbible, Morgan explained how he hopes to annoy ‘those whiny, miserable, joyless, ultra woke cancel culture imbeciles who think that their view is the only acceptable view’.
He said: “You have to agree with them about everything or you get shamed, abused, vilified, cancelled, fired, ruined...

“They’re like arsonists, they just want to torch everything in front of them.
“If you dare to stand up to them or criticise them, they're the most oversensitive, often woefully ill-informed people who have just decided – this small group of very angry people – have decided they're going to tell the rest of us how we're going to lead our lives.
“Well, sorry, that's not how it works in a democracy. And that's not how it's going to work on my show."
Morgan went on to say that such people would be welcome on his programme, promising to give them a ‘fair hearing’, adding: “Come and defend what your position is. Come and tell me why it's right – that you can only have certain types of speakers at universities, where kids are supposed to be furthering their mind with all kinds of views.

“If you think I'm wrong about the trans athlete debate, come and tell me why. But don't just try and have me destroyed for having a different opinion to you.”
Earlier in the Q&A, Morgan also vowed to ‘uncancel’ anyone who has been cancelled, saying they should never be 'shamed or vilified or cancelled for having an opinion, unless you genuinely are spewing hateful, bigoted stuff'.
"I don't intend to do that," he said.

"I've never done that before in my broadcasting time. I want to be a broad church to any kind of view.
"I want to re-platform those who have been de-platformed. I want to uncancel those who've been cancelled.
“You know, I want to basically make a point that the cancel culture is as dangerous to society, in its own way – in terms of this attack on free speech and freedom of expression – as coronavirus has been, and could be, over the next few years and decades, actually more dangerous.
“So I think if a democracy like ours, or America or Australia, where this show will be airing, if a democracy loses that sense of what free speech means, and stops defending an individual's right to an opinion, you're not a democracy.

“So this show, I hope, and the network will be standing up for democracy.”
