TikTok has become the number one social media platform for conjuring up new terms like “Cheugy”, “Mid” and “Zaddy” into our language. The latest phrase to crop up on the platform is “Pushing P”, but what exactly does it mean?
What does “Pushing P” mean?
If you’re at all familiar with the rapper Gunna, then you’ve probably come across this term in his latest album, Drip Season 4Ever, on his single which is appropriately titled, well, “Pushing P”, which features the likes of Future and Young Thug.
It’ll be no surprise to learn that the track went viral, and has been featured on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram. You might have come across the phrase “Pushing P”, combined with a blue, capital “P” emoji. So what does it mean?
Well, according to the rapper, “P” simply means “player”.
Gunna featured on a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, where he explained the meaning of his signature phrase: “It’s simply ‘player’ but you also could just like use it in other ways like, ‘I don’t like what he did, that weren’t P’”.
“It starts with ‘Player’ but then you start ‘Pushing P’, it’s like everything I’m doing is really just P,” he said.
Confusing? We thought so, too. So, we checked out Urban Dictionary’s definition of the term, which is:
“Slang popularized by Atlanta rapper Gunna which means Pushing Pressure.”
“One of the ways you can be Pushing P is by having money or owning things versus renting them.”
How do TikTokers use “Pushing P”?
The phrase “Pushing P” has become so popular that TikTokers have taken the phrase under their wing, and ran with it. One of the TikTok trends sees users expressing their own ideas as to what “Pushing P” means, which has even led to Gunna replying in the comments section in some instances.
Another TikToker shared a more visual cue as to what “Pushing P” looks like. The social media star superimposed the “P” emoji on top of a hilarious clip of Spongebob Squarepants, where Patrick Star encourages his on-screen friends to push Bikini Bottom somewhere else.
He captioned his video: “how i’m pushing P all 2022”.
