Ryan Gosling is a good looking Hollywood star, and in Barbie, he's taking on the role of the picture-perfect Ken doll.
It's a recipe for greatness, but somehow it's come out of the oven looking like Ellen DeGeneres.
This is absolutely nothing against Ellen - I just don't think the people behind Barbie were hoping she'd be the point of comparison when Ken was revealed to the world.
Responses to Gosling's Ken were pretty positive when we got our first glimpses of him a few months ago, showing him in character skating alongside Margot Robbie's Barbie.

He has bleached blonde hair and tanned skin; features which you'd think would be more likely to call to mind a Love Island contestant than any 65-year-old former chat show host.
But when viewers got a closer look at Gosling in the trailers for Greta Gerwig's upcoming movie, they couldn't help but point out the resemblance to the longtime TV presenter and voice of Finding Nemo's Dory.
"Y’all gonna jump me if I say Ryan Gosling kinda look like Ellen in that Barbie trailer ? cause if so I DIDNT SAY THAT!," one person wrote after the latest trailer was released yesterday (4 April).
Another shared a snap of Ellen for comparison, writing: "Ryan Gosling looks like ELLEN I can’t breathe he literally looks like this I’m gonna puke," while a third simply wrote: "'Is that Ellen?"

The latest trailer for the movie introduces the world to 'Barbie Land', where we see Ken showing off his body in a matching shirt and shorts co-ord.
He proposes spending the night with Barbie - though they're not sure what for - and grabs his rollerblades ready to join her on an adventure in the 'real world', much to her apparent dismay.

A lot of people can't wait to see the movie, but some just can't get past Ken and what Gosling's bringing to the role.
Some went as far to suggested other actors, like James Marsden, would have been better suited to play the real-life doll, while others said that 42-year-old Gosling looked 'old' as he appeared in the film.
"I hate to say it, I hope I don’t sound ridiculous, but this man looks too old to be playing Ken," one viewer wrote.

But, to be fair to Gosling, his white hair in the movie is obviously a character choice, and probably not one intended to make him look decades older than he is in real life.
But intentional or not, the film is well on its way, this is the Ken we're going to have to work with.
Barbie is set to be released in cinemas on 21 July.
