Scarlett Johansson has responded to a rumour she had sex in an elevator with Benicio Del Toro, describing it as ‘outrageous’.
The two actors starred together in Avengers: Infinity War, but years before then they were rumoured to have hooked up.
Johansson, who was 19 at the time, was said to have met the then-37-year-old after the 2004 Oscars.

Reports at the time claimed they had sex in a lift as they made their way to a suite at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles.
But Johansson, now 37, dispelled the rumours this week while speaking on TheSkimm's 9 to 5ish podcast on Tuesday, 12 April.
"That was a story that followed me for a long time, but I always thought that was outrageous,” she said.

“I was always thinking to myself, ‘That would be tough. It's a very short period, the logistics of that seem so unappealing to me.’
"I'm a person who's terrified of being caught doing something I'm not supposed to be doing. So that made the story even that much more absurd to me."
Del Toro, now 55, previously gave an ambiguous response when asked about the rumour, with some taking it to mean it was true.

In an interview with Esquire at the time, he said: “Did I ever have sex in an elevator with Scarlett Johansson after an awards show? I kind of like, you know, I, well. I don’t know.
“Let’s leave that to somebody’s imagination. Let’s not promote it. I’m sure it has happened before. It might not be the last time, either.”
He did, however, add: "The Chateau Marmont only has eight floors. I would still be struggling out of my leather jacket by the second floor and wouldn't even have my shirt off at the seventh."
Johansson also addressed the gossip when it first came out, telling Allure: “He’s a fabulous guy.

“Apparently there was somebody with us in an elevator, and we were making out or having sex or something, which I think is very unsanitary.”
Last August, Johansson and her husband Colin Jost welcomed a son and revealed they had called him Cosmo.
While many were left wondering what their son’s name means, Jost appeared as a guest on The Late Show last October where he responded to this very question.

Speaking to host Seth Meyers, he said: "We were just assigned it at the hospital. I think the hospitals now are just so overwhelmed that when your baby comes out, they're just like 'Urgh, that's Frank, go'."
