Taika Waititi is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most popular and distinct directors.
His cinematic genius is responsible for the fan favourite Thor: Ragnarok (2017), which challenged what viewers could ordinarily expect from a traditional Marvel film by injecting a whole lot of humour and heart.
Waititi has also helped bring the Star Wars universe to life on-screen by directing the explosive final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1, which aired on Disney Plus in December 2019.

Waititi’s Star Wars stint also saw him working alongside Marvel alumni, Jon Favreau, who starred as Happy in both the Iron Man and Spider-Man films, and is the writer of The Mandlorian series.
The director is also known for his spontaneous on-screen appearances, as well as for his directing from behind the camera.
His cameo appearance in Thor: Ragnarok as Korg, a Kronan rock-warrior with a humorous naive nature, established Waititi as someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Recently, Waititi has been away from his New Zealand home while wrapping up filming on-set of Thor: Love And Thunder (2022), in Australia. However, fans are left wondering if Waititi has a family and children that he left behind to bring Thor: Love And Thunder to life.
Does Taika Waititi Have Children?
Taika Waititi has two daughters, Te Hinekāhu (aged nine) and Matewa Kiritapu (aged six).

It is clear that Waititi’s children are a huge part of his life, as he has been pictured numerous times on the red carpet with them, including for the launch of The Lion King (2019) and most recently for the release of Thor: Love And Thunder (2022).
Although both of Waititi’s daughters share the same mother, Chelsea Winstanley, their parents are no longer married. Waititi and Winstanley, also a film producer from New Zealand, married in 2011, but later split in 2018.
This hasn’t got in the way of Waititi putting his children first though.
He has gone above and beyond to make Thor: Love And Thunder a family affair, with his two daughters starring as Asgardian children in the film.

Waititi has also allowed Chris Hemsworth’s eight year old twin boys, Sasha and Tristan, their own special roles with both boys playing Thor as a young child in the film.
Hemsworth’s 10 year old daughter India Rose also makes an appearance as a character named “Love,” paying tribute to half the film’s title, with Thor the god of Thunder, played by her father, completing it.
For both Hemsworth and Waititi’s children, Thor: Love And Thunder might just be one title in a long filmography yet to come, with their parents bound to be the perfect film industry mentors.
