Warning: Spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4 Vol 2 ahead.
The finale of Stranger Things Season 4 has arrived, and along with its epic conclusion, we also had to say goodbye to fan favourite metal-head and dungeon master, Eddie Munson.
Eddie, portrayed by Joseph Quinn, sacrificed himself in the season’s finale to save the rest of the Hawkins’ gang from the terrors of the Upside Down.

His sacrifice may have been saddening, but he went out in one of the most badass ways possible: shredding a metal guitar solo before fighting off a hoard of demobats.
In what has been a great season for needle drops, with Kate Bush’s ‘Running up that Hill’ also featuring heavily in the finale, Eddie has likely introduced Stranger Things fans to Metallica.
The song he played was the classic metal track ‘Master of Puppets’, a single from the band's 1986 album of the same name. Considering the latest season of the Netflix show is set in 1986, it's the perfect time for Eddie to be shredding it in an alternate dimension!
Fan’s immediately took to Twitter to laud the use of the song.
In the now much-loved scene, which Eddie and Dustin call 'the most metal concert ever', we actually see Joseph Quinn playing the guitar for real.

Speaking to Salon, the actor, who has been an avid guitarist since childhood, said that he was 'practicing pretty furiously' in the lead up to the climactic scene, and that he 'listened to a lot of heavy metal'.
Well it certainly paid off, as for some have praised this scene as one of the best in the entire show.
With Spotify releasing new Stranger Things themed features, and with the recent success of Kate Bush and ‘Running up that Hill’, you can expect to see a massive boost to ‘Master of Puppets’ popularity on streaming services around the world.
