Praised for perhaps being the biggest daredevil in the film industry - Tom Cruise was lucky to escape a serious injury after being filmed messing up a stunt. Watch below:
Cruise was filming for Oblivion at the time, where he plays the character of Jack Harper who works as a security repairman on an Earth left empty after a war with aliens.

Set in the year 2077, Jack has two weeks left before his mission ends.
After rescuing stranger Olga Kurylenko from a downed spacecraft, the woman's arrival triggers a chain of events that culminates in Jack's single-handed battle to save mankind.
In one behind-the-scenes look at the 2013 film, the actor is seen flying up a ramp on a motorbike at top speed with the expectation to land perfectly without losing any momentum.

Cruise then proceeds to go full throttle with his attempt.
Unfortunately, he massively miscalculates the landing and as his tyres hit the floor, he completely loses balance and the motorbike crashes into the ground.
Along with the bike, the Top Gun star falls super awkwardly and very narrowly misses getting his legs caught underneath.
After tossing and turning, it then cuts to the actor who seems to be ok as he says: "Alright guys," with his hands in the air.

Accidents like that would perhaps make some of us think twice about doing such dangerous stunts, however, Cruise just seems to go from one extreme to another.
For the upcoming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, the actor ‘risked death’ to perform a next-level motorbike stunt.
He takes part in perhaps his most daring feat of bravery to date after jumping off a cliff on a motorbike straight into a BASE jump.

For those who aren’t aware, BASE stands for building, antenna, span, or earth.
Basically, jumping off skyscrapers, from tall radio towers, off a bridge, or from a cliff.
In this instance, we’re dealing with a cliff.

As shown in the trailer, the absolutely ridiculous attempt begins with Cruise slamming the accelerator on his motorbike, while heading towards the edge of a cliff.
Just as he reaches the edge, he jumps up into the air, takes his hands of the bike and quite literally free-falls off the cliff... along with the motorcycle.
Cruise describes the stunt as ‘far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted’.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is set to be released on 14 July in the UK.
