Some people out there might think of a beach strip lined with British bars and restaurants when they hear ‘Benidorm’.
But there’s the rest of us who think of the most obvious thing instead, the TV series.
The ITV sitcom aired for over a decade and came to an end in 2018 with a tenth series.

And yet, it feels like it never really ended as we binge it on Netflix and the stars of the show never really shake-off the ‘that’s the one from Benidorm’ title.
So, let’s re-angle this news, two of the ones from Benidorm just got engaged.
Yep, five years since the sunny show came to a close, two of the stars have fallen in love.

Adam Gillen and Laila Zaidi shot to fame on the iconic comedy, and you may know them better as Liam and Cyd.
Although, they weren’t really a couple on the show.
The actors first started dating in 2018, the year Benidorm was axed – maybe they sought solace from each other as hearts across the nation were broken.
And on Wednesday (27 September) they announced to happy fans they were engaged with an Instagram post.

Laila shared a string of lovey-dovey snaps of the pair as she wrote: “A whole week of being a diiiirty flirttttyyy thirty FIANCÉ !!!!!!!”
While Adam did propose on their holiday, we’re disappointed to report that holiday was to Croatia, not Benidorm.
Peaky Blinders star Sophie Rundle commented to say: “SO GORGEOUUUUUS!! Congratulations!!!”
And Game of Thrones actor Nathalie Emmanuel wrote: “Awwwww congratulations!!!”

Adam appeared on Benidorm from 2011, joining as the son of Les Conroy (played by Tim Healey).
Liam worked at the Solana Hotel resort in various roles, from a maintenance worker to a hairdresser.
The actor definitely looks different to the ginger Benidorm character as the engaged star rocks full facial hair and white-blonde hair.

Adam has also appeared in Fresh Meat, narrates Game of Clones and often works in theatre.
Laila didn’t appear in Benidorm until the final series, coming on as the fiancée to the show’s regular character, Rob Dawson (played by Josh Bolt).
When she joined, the Dawson family were convinced she was a boy and weren’t exactly friendly.
While the stars may be loved-up in real-life, there’s little chance of the show coming back.
Star Siobhan Finneran, who played Janice Garvey, told The Sun any speculation was just rumour.
She said: “You should probably never say never to anything so popular but as far as I know it won't be coming back at any point.”
