Also a writer on the show's spin-off series, Gen V, Kripke wrote on X: "#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!
"Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!"

Although one put: "I still hope the story can continue. Five seasons is not enough."

But many agreed: "For quality it makes a ton of sense, however I’ll be so sad that the show is ending."
Someone else commented: "Bittersweet announcement but I’d rather it end on a high instead of losing quality from overstaying its welcome."
As one echoed: "Had a feeling this was coming, but it's just so sad. Forever grateful for this show. What a masterpiece. Can't wait for season 4!!!"
