For those of us who would rather not spend our free time getting scared sh**less watching thrillers and horrors, a nice sitcom is far more comforting.
Binging cartoons might be more your style than sinking into a gritty drama and there’s countless choices. From classics like The Simpsons and South Park to the likes of Bob’s Burgers and Futurama, obviously Family Guy is up there.
But putting a twist on the American sitcom, an AI artist has turned the animation into a 1980s live action sitcom and the results are horrifying.

YouTuber Lyrical Realms shared a video of the fake opening titles of the show, after using AI to make various videos and music videos that use ‘their own lyrics as an input for AI image generation models’.
Rather than the cartoon dark comedy series, this totally reimagines it as an ‘80s live action family sitcom’ – complete with over-the-top hairdos.
This version uses the theme tune of Family Matters, the opening titles of ‘Family Guy’ show all the famous characters we know far better in animated form.

Peter Griffin appears bursting out of his white shirt with broad shoulders as one user joked in the comments: “The most unnatural thing here is that Peter genuinely looks like a good dog.”
Little Stewie has far more hair than we’re used to compared to the bald-haired kid in the cartoon with sparse strands.
Brian the dog is also shown as a very cute Labrador with supporting cast members such as Cleveland Brown, Glenn Quagmire and Joe Swanson also shown.

One user wrote: “As an 80s baby, this is so well done that it makes me feel like I can visualize the pilot.”
As others can picture it being real as ‘a family friendly show where the friendly neighbourhood dad Peter griffin gets into silly goofy situations in the neighbourhood and has to solve it in a wholesome way’. Well, that would certainly make for a different Family Guy.

While another put: “This seems like that one kind of show that everyone would watch on their childhood while not understanding a single bit of its humour.”
Others said it ‘feels like a bizarre window into an alternate reality’.
Another added: “It's scary how well these realistic counterpoints make sense."
While one echoed: “It's really uncanny and kinda creepy that AI is making these... they look freakishly realistic.”

And while some do think it’s rather odd, others reckon they would ‘binge the heck’ out of it if it was real.
