Brilliant news, it sounds like Gavin and Stacey is returning for another Christmas special which we'll be able to see this year.
According to Deadline, a new episode of the sitcom will be filmed this summer with the intention of being aired for Christmas 2024.
They report that the new Christmas special of the show created by Ruth Jones and James Corden is currently in pre-production, so it'll be some time before anyone gets in front of a camera.

Still, this is all incredibly exciting as the last time was had them on our screens was all the way back in 2019 which left us on a cliffhanger.
Nessa (Ruth Jones) ended the episode by proposing to Smithy (James Corden), but we never got to hear his answer as all he could do was ask: "What?"
Five years on and we could be catching up with the Barry Island crew to see what happened next.

At the time, Jones said there was room for more episodes but it was just 'so complicated for me and James to get together to write'.
The Gavin and Stacey co-creator said she and Corden spent three years trying to find the time to write the 2019 Christmas special, so maybe that explains the wait to see how Nessa's proposal would go.
And if you think sitting tight for five years is bad, it was almost a decade's worth of waiting between the last Christmas special and the previous Gavin and Stacey episode, which was released on New Year's Day 2010.
According to the Deadline report, most of the show's main cast are set to return for the new episode, so hopefully we'll get more scenes of Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) and maybe finally find out what happened on that fishing trip.

We almost learned what happened last time as Bryn finally seemed ready to spill the beans before the family's kids came charging in demanding to open their selection boxes.
At this point maybe we're better off not knowing and the real fishing trip mystery is the friends we made along the way.
A Gavin and Stacey Christmas special would doubtless be one of the highlights of 2024's festive TV schedule, though we'll all have to do a lot of waiting before December rolls around again.

Then again, time does occasionally fly by so before you know it we could all be huddled round the telly for more Gavin and Stacey.
The BBC declined to comment when approached by LADbible about the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.
