Gavin and Stacey fans are all making the same demand to the show's creators after its return was officially confirmed.
Yep, in case you’ve somehow missed it, the iconic British sitcom is finally coming back for a Christmas special – bet that was the last thing you expected when you came into work in the morning.
James Corden and Ruth Jones confirmed the cracking news this morning (3 May) with an Instagram post announcing the ‘last ever’ episode of Gavin and Stacey.

Despite previously denying the rumours it was coming back, the creators shared the cover of the script reading: “Gavin and Stacey: the finale.” So, yeah, it’s pretty bittersweet as it seems this could really be the final ever episode of the popular show.
But still, it’s hugely exciting for fans as we haven’t had any new content from the legendary Essex and Wales lot since 2019.
And even then, that was just a one-off Christmas special too. The actual BBC series itself originally broadcast for three seasons from 13 May 2007 to 1 January 2010.

With it being so long since Gavin and Stacey was last on our screens (and Mick was on the telly!), fans have plenty of unanswered questions.
Of course, the 2019 special ended with Nessa (played by Jones) down on one knee, proposing to Smithy (Corden, obviously). But we were left on that cliffhanger, we never got to find out what he said and what happened to the pair.
However, and this won’t surprise some, most fans are demanding this final ever episode answers what is probably the show’s biggest mystery.
I bet you’re shouting it at your screen already. Fans are desperate to know what happened on Jason (Robert Wilfort) and Bryn’s (Rob Brydon) infamous fishing trip.

And one user commented on Corden’s post: “Please get through the episode then do the credits THEN a credits scene of a flashback so we can finally find out what happened on the fishing trip.”
Plenty of others echoed the demands as they wrote: “Fishing trip reveal or we riot.”
While the creators may have given ‘the people what they want’ for now, fans agree: “If the fishing trip isn’t mentioned I will be upset.”

Others simply left eye and fishing emojis as one commented: “Finally!!!! I hope we find out what happened on the fishing trip too.”
Oh my Christ, it’s all the drama, I love it.
Corden’s announcement post reads: “Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.”
