James Buckley has explained why they changed one of The Inbetweeners’ most iconic scenes.
The actor, of course, played Jay Cartwright, the lad with all those ‘friends’ in the beloved E4 sitcom.
The Inbetweeners series ran from 2008 to 2010 with the second and final film coming out in 2014.

And despite it being nearly a decade since then, we still can’t get enough of it – the ‘bus w**ker’ shouts and unforgettable moments live on.
Buckley discussed one particular iconic scene, while appearing on Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch’s podcast, The Therapy Crouch. Watch here:
The cameo millionaire was chatting about the 2009 episode ‘The Field Trip’, when the lads took a boat around the bay, but Simon (Joe Thomas) ends up falling in.

He then ended up nude in front of the whole class trip – with just a sock to cover his c*ck.
“There’s a scene where I’m definitely laughing where Joe Thomas is in the boat and he stands up and he’s got a sock on,” Buckley recalls.
“So, the sock was there to cover him up. But it was meant to be edited so that you thought he was naked.”

The actor explained we ‘weren’t supposed to see the sock’ that pretty much became a character in its own right.
“But the sock was so funny,” he adds. “There’s a shot where Joe Thomas stands up and he takes a coat and he’s waving for a boat to come and help us or something like that.
“And obviously everyone is just looking at this bloke with a sock on his penis.
“Whereas if you look at the other end of the boat, I’m just laughing. I am on the boat and I’m just laughing at it.”

As well as talking about how this scene was changed during the podcast with Clancy and Crouch, Buckley also revealed his favourite line from The Inbetweeners.
Sitting beside his wife, Clair Buckley, the star explained: “There’s a line from The Inbetweeners, this is one of my favourite lines and it is Jay talking to his dad.
“And his dad just goes, ‘Jay, women are like fairground rides, f**king mental.’”

Crouch bursts into laughter, whereas Clair didn’t have quite the same level of hysterics.
“That’s it, that’s all it is – that’s the pearls of wisdom,” Buckley continues.
“And I’m just like ‘oh thanks dad.’”
TikTok users said Buckley’s appearance on the podcast is ‘one of the best episodes to date’, branding it ‘hilarious’.
