Rupert Grint raised one of the concerns he had ahead of HBO's series remake of Harry Potter.
The British actor is best known for playing Ron Weasley in the original film series, a role which he cherishes to this day.
So much so, in fact, that the 36-year-old had even hinted at the idea of returning as the character in some form, as long as certain conditions were met.

He admitted back in 2023: "I think if the timing was right and everyone was coming back. It was a character that was important to me, we kind of became the same person.
"I'm protective of him as well. It was my whole childhood."
While the likes of fellow stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have distanced themselves from their breakout roles, Grint has always been more than happy to speak about his time on set for the eight iconic films.
Speaking to MailOnline in 2022, he even said that he'd started showing his toddler the films: "I’ve shown her clips just to see if she’d pick me out. And she does, she completely knows it’s me instantly and weirdly she looks like I did in the first film."

"She has that same kind of smile and round head," he went on, as he even admitted that she has her own wand and robe.
But three years on, HBO have confirmed that a series is now in the works, even confirming its first six cast members, with the likes of John Lithgow portraying Dumbledore and Nick Frost playing Hagrid.

While Wizarding World fans are over the moon, Grint had previously voiced his concerns about a potential remake, long before it had been confirmed.
He told the publication: "I think, over the years, Ron and I became one thing - this kind of hybrid person. So there’s a lot of me in there.

"I often have this thought that they’re gonna remake them: start again and do a complete remake, and that does scare me. I don’t think I’d handle that well."
While some of the cast members have been confirmed, many will be curious to see which actors will be announced to fill the boots that Radcliffe, Watson and Grint left with the iconic trio of Harry, Hermione and Ron.

While the three actors haven't publicly commented on the return of the series, having no part at all with its development, JK Rowling has been expectedly involved in the creation and casting of the show.
According to the news outlet, there have been over 32,000 audition tapes for the three roles, as the series is rumoured to start filming this summer at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire.

HBO confirmed Rowling's role in the project, despite the controversy between her, her former stars, and the LGBTQ+ community.
They stated that it was to make sure it is a 'faithful adaptation' of the original books, even giving her the sign off on the series' writer and showrunner.
