Truth exposed following viral rumour that two stars of The Traitors are related in real life

The Traitors' Alex Oleksy has revealed the truth

The Traitors Faithful Alex Oleksy has addressed the rumours of there being a 'family link' between contestants.

Alex, 29, was banished during last night's (16 January) dramatic episode which saw Charlotte - who's also been the subject of a viral rumour - join 'the dark side'.

At the roundtable, the care manager from Whitby raised suspicions among the contestants after saying banished traitor Linda had never thrown another traitor under the bus.

And it seems that was enough for the eight contestants to vote him off.

“I would like to say thank you to everybody in this room,” Alex said.

“I have had the best time of my life, and met the most amazing and wonderful people, every single one of you is absolutely amazing, and I wish you all the best of luck. I am a Faithful.”

Throughout the show, fans also thought Alex looked a bit like fellow Faithful Lisa and host of The Traitors: Uncloaked asked him what the deal was.

Ed Gamble asked: "It seems like you struck up some really close friendships with them, especially Lisa. Now there have been some rumours going around that Lisa is your mum or mother-in-law?"

Alex then revealed how he’d received a text from his sister asking: "Why do you look more like the priest on The Traitors than our mum?"

"And it’s so true! I looked it and thought 'there’s been a swap in the hospital'," he laughed.

"We need a DNA test done now."

Then Alex shared that both Lisa and Linda attended his recent wedding, and were forced to come up with 'an elaborate backstory' about how they knew each other.

"I was like 'Linda don’t spoil this one, come on'," he joked, insisting that he couldn't tell anyone that they were all on the show together.

After leaving, the Faithful admitted that he was 'disappointed' that he was never picked to be a 'Traitor'.

Alex added: “For me, leaving came exactly at the right time. It was such a bizarre situation.

“So many things had happened, and I was so aware how guilty people thought I was, that the moment of vindication that I got from being able to stand up in front of everybody and say, I’m a Faithful, was worth more than any money, and I sincerely mean that, I think.

“I was so ready to get out of there, and I was so ready to prove my innocence.”

The Traitors continues tonight (17 January) at 9pm on BBC One.
