A video has gone viral on TikTok showcasing the Argos catalogue from 1998, and people are baffled by the prices of things…
You can’t tell us we’re wrong in saying there was no greater feeling than relentlessly flicking through every page of the Argos catalogue before your birthday or near to christmas, highlighting and ticking off every item you wanted…but let’s be real, rarely ever got.
Mmm we can almost smell the pages!

The front cover of the old catalogue had an old CD player/speaker system, a drill, table and chairs, and the original red and yellow ‘Little Tikes’ car that every toddler wanted.
Unfortunately, the Argos catalogue is now a relic, as the shopping chain scrapped its iconic catalogue after 47 years in July 2020.
Now, a video went through an old Argos catalogue and picked out every gaming console that existed at the time…boy is this a throwback!

The Nintendo Game Boy with two games and a case was £53.99…when you look at this, we really have come far in terms of technical advancements!
Next up is the original Playstation, coming in at £129 with two controllers AND…you’re not ready for this, a memory card.
Could we please just go back to these simpler times?!
This next section might actually blow your minds, could we please get a round of applause for the 14” box TV’s!

Which you could have in 1998 for a total of £229, or £9 a month, we’re not sure how long you’d have to be paying that one off for though…
If you really wanted to splash the cash, you could have the 20” for £429.
Reminiscing is something us Brits LOVE to do, and viewers were getting stuck right in in the comments.

The saddest part about everything?

In their statement confirming the demise of the catalogue, Argos said: “We're seeing an increasing shift towards digital shopping, using our mobile app, website and in-store browsers.”
"Closing the book on the catalogue will help us focus on delivering exciting and inspiring digital shopping experiences to meet the changing needs of our customers, both in-store and online.”
Just do us all a favour and bring it back, Argos!
