It's no secret that treating yourself to a meal from Five Guys will cost you a pretty penny, however not everything in the restaurant costs an arm and a leg.
Since its creation in 1986, Five Guys has managed to pull off the unthinkable and disrupt the fast food market with its offering of fresh burgers, mountains of fries and milkshakes.
Jerry Murrell's brand has since been able to open thousands of locations across the United States and beyond.

So clearly they must be doing something right.
However, the fast food chain isn't immune from criticism, with one unhappy punter previously going viral after revealing that a burger, fries and a fizzy drink had cost him a whopping £18.58 ($24.10).
Which is pretty steep when you compare the prices to other restaurants on the market.
While a burger and chips may see you needing to sell a kidney, foodies who love adding a few extra toppings to their meals can rest easy, as the restaurant doesn't charge customers who want to add some more relish, onions or mushrooms between their buns.

Outlining the decision on the 'Generosity' section of their website, Five Guys explains that customers are welcome to add any of the 15 available burger toppings to their order for no extra charge.
They explained: "We love our customers! That’s why we try to be as generous as we can with your order."

The toppings are:
- Mayo
- Lettuce
- Pickles
- Tomatoes
- Grilled Onions
- Grilled Mushrooms
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Relish
- Onions
- Green Peppers
- Jalapeños
- BBQ Sauce
- Hot Sauce
- A1 Sauce
According to Five Guys, this means customers are able to create 'unlimited' different combinations.

Customers are also able to enjoy 11 milkshake mix-ins, unlimited soda refills, and free peanuts.
And this isn't even factoring in that even a small order of fries will see you eating your way through a tsunami of potato.

"People complain that they get too many fries," Chad Murrell, son of Five Guys founder Jerry, previously told FoodRepublic.
"We always give an extra scoop. I say load 'em up and make sure they get their money's worth."

Which you can't deny is a pretty generous move on their part.
Meanwhile Murrell Snr previously addressed claims the restaurant charges too much for their products, explaining that the cost of a meal depends on the cost of raw ingredients.
"Our food prices fluctuate," he previously told Inc Magazine. "We do not base our price on anything but margins.
"We raise our prices to reflect whatever our food costs are. So, if the mayonnaise guy triples his price, we pay triple for the mayonnaise!
"And then we'll increase the price of our product."
