Late last year, McDonald's took its global dominance to a whole new level by launching a brand new spin-off restaurant called CosMc's.
Based on a little-known McDonald's mascot from from outer space, the company described CosMc's as 'a new small-format, beverage-led concept that’s truly out of this world'.
CosMc - an alien who visits McDonaldland to satisfy his cravings for McDonald's - appeared in some adverts for the company in the 80s and 90s, before being quietly withdrawn.

But someone at McDonald's must have had a soft spot the alien, as he is now back with his very own brand.
A press release from McDonald's at the time the new restaurant chain was announced read: "Inspired by nostalgia and powered by a menu of bold, refreshing beverages and tasty treats, CosMc’s is landing earthside for us humans to enjoy.
"CosMc’s seamlessly blends brand-new, otherworldly beverage creations with a small lineup of food, including a select few McDonald’s favorites - all designed to boost your mood into the stratosphere, if only for a few moments."

When the first location of the spin-off restaurant opened in Bollingbrook, Illinois, US, in December of last year, fans were treated to a menu full of cosmic goodies including the Sour Cherry Energy Slush, Tropical Spiceade and S’mores Cold Brew, as well as McPops, Pretzel Bites, Savory Hash Brown Bites and the Spicy Queso Sandwich.
One TikToker who goes by @loustejskal documented her first trip there.
She ordered a Blueberry Ginger Boost, a Spicy Queso Sandwich, a Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, and some McPops.

Filming herself ordering at the DriveThru, an employee explained that the McPops come in three different flavours: Cookie Butter, Apple Cinnamon and Hazelnut.
If you can't decide which one you want, you can opt for the mixed bag.
And, when she asked if there was anything else she should try, Lou was urged to give the Hash Brown Bites a go.
Foodie @snackolator said: "What’s interesting is CosMc’s is 100% drive-thru, so you cannot go inside to order and then when your order is ready, they tell you which window to go to, to go pick it up."

He went on to call CosMc's 'a great idea [and] a great concept'.

CosMc's, which has been compared US fast food chain Sonic Drive-In, currently has five locations across the US - Bolingbrook, IL, Arlington, TX, Dallas, TX, San Antonio, TX, and Watauga, TX with a sixth location in Fort Worth, TX 'coming soon', according to its website.
McDonald's is apparently planning on opening a total of 10 CosMc's outlets by the end of the year.
Let's hope some UK-based locations will follow.
