Red Rooster has invented a clever AI T-Shirt that rates your stomach grumble — and you could win a year of chicken by recording yours

The future is now.

The future is here and it’s tastier than we ever could have imagined.

The legends at Red Rooster (Reds) have created an incredible, AI-powered T-shirt that can listen to your stomach rumble and order chicken on your behalf in the corresponding portion size. Called ‘crave_ware’, the technology delivers the ultimate in convenience by figuring out what you want to eat before you even know it yourself.

The Red Rooster Research & Development teamed up with the creative techies at whiteGREY to develop a convolutional neural network (that’s seriously smart AI, for those of us non-tech geniuses) that can listen to and categorise people’s stomach rumbles.

So, how does it work? The crave_wave shirt has a specially sewn-in pod that includes a built-in microphone that actively listens to your gut growls. Not only that, but the algorithm has been trained to speak fluent stomach, and can distinguish between genuine stomach rumbles and other bodily noises like farts and burps. So, there’s no risk of the shirt thinking that you’re hungry when you’ve actually just downed three long-necks after work.

The built-in microphone then sends data to the app via Bluetooth. Based on the intensity and duration of the rumble, it can then match it with a menu item and place an order with Reds on your behalf.

Unfortunately the shirt isn’t available to purchase just yet, but the good news is that Red Rooster has another thunderously entertaining way to participate. Record audio of your best stomach rumble and upload it to the competition page with your details to go in the draw to win a year’s worth of fried chicken.
