Man who tried 75% ABV 'strongest beer in the world' claims his 'tongue went numb'

Man who tried 75% ABV 'strongest beer in the world' claims his 'tongue went numb'

This stuff isn't for the faint-hearted

If your tipple comes with a warning label, that should be an indication that it might not go down so smoothly.

And if it's touted as the 'strongest beer in the world', you ought to know what your getting yourself in for - but for the sake of research, this ballsy bloke was willing to try this fearsome beverage out.

Dan, who is better known as @1minutebeerreview online, has become a social media sensation thanks to his videos which provide a short and snappy assessment of the best beers on the market.

He's sourced rare ones, spicy ones and pretty much any kind of ale you can imagine throughout his TikTok series, which has saw him neck a whopping 2,541 bevvies so far.

But to really test his tolerance, as well as how much his tastebuds can endure, Dan pulled out the big guns - and by big guns, I mean glugging down some Scottish Beithir Fire.

The tipple, produced by the Edinburgh-based firm 88 Brewery, wears the crown of the 'world's strongest beer' thanks to it's ridiculously high alcohol by volume (ABV) of a whopping 75%.

For context, a Peroni's ABV is only 5%... so yeah, this is some strong stuff.

The creators explain that Scottish Beithir Fire was 'born out of a relationship between two of Scotland’s most famous products, beer and distilled spirits'.

According to 88 Brewery, the beer begins as a 'high ABV Scottish style barley ale with a brewing process that lasts approximately 2 months'.

Following that, it is then blended with 'the purest Scottish spirit' to reach that 75% ABV, and is filtered three times after the fermentation process.

In the words of 88 Brewery, this creates a 'drink so strong in ABV that it has to come with a warning label'.

Dan decided to make the £45.95 bottle of beer the subject of one of his videos, which has resurfaced on TikTok today (2 August) to coincide with International Beer Day.

Introducing his followers to the beer which is guaranteed to blow your socks off, the reviewer said: "One minute beer review, beer number 1988.

"It's my birth year, and you all seem to think I look like Eddie Hall," he joked. "So, here we go with the world's strongest beer... Scottish Beithir Fire, 75% alcohol by volume from the 88 Brewery. Here we go, the big one."

Dan peered at the warning label which urged drinkers 'not to exceed 35ml in one sitting' before it was time for bottoms up - and bedlam to erupt inside of his mouth.

Almost immediately after swallowing the booze, his face screwed up in what appeared to be disgust, before he began coughing, retching and spluttering within an inch of his life.

Sweat started pumping out of him while his eyes began to water as the Scottish Beithir Fire worked it's way down his gullet.

Hilariously, all Dan could muster up in between all of the gagging was the words 'f**k' and 'Jesus f**king Christ' - which says it all about Scottish Beithir Fire, really.

When he finally managed to regain some composure and get his words out, the TikToker said: "Wow, that's strong.

"That's really strong. It tastes like burning. My tongue is now numb."

Despite his animated reaction to the world's strongest beer, he reckons it was quite an 'experience' and he even encouraged his followers to 'go and buy one'.

"I need to go and lie down," Dan amusingly added.
