An experienced pilot has revealed the one question you should ask airline staff in order to make your experience even more special.

Most of the time travellers are keen to get off the aircraft touches down on the runway, if the amount of people springing out of their seats and grabbing their bags is anything to go by.

However, did you know that if you're one of the last to disembark the flight you have the opportunity to get an 'exclusive' tour of the aircraft.

According to one pilot who goes by the name @PerchPoint on TikTok, most passengers are unaware that you can visit the plane's cockpit. All you have to do is ask cabin crew if it's possible on your flight.

"As an airline pilot, the one thing that customers under-mine the most is the ability to come up and talk to flight crew," the pilot explained.

"If you've ever wanted to see inside of a cockpit, talk to the pilot and ask questions or talk about flying, all you have to do is ask the flight attendant.

"I would say nine out of 10 times we're more than happy to talk to people and show them these things."

Of course, it might not always be feasible for the crew to allow passengers inside the cockpit, however it's worth asking if you're interested. Particularly if you're travelling with a keen aviation enthusiast.

And speaking as someone who was able to get the tour as a child, it's pretty interesting although a bit cramped.

The pilot then went on to reveal the it's best to ask during a quieter moment during boarding which allows the pilots to figure out the best possible opportunity, although the tour may not actually take place until you've reached your destination.

"I personally love it when someone comes up and they just want to see what's going on," he added. "We love to share what we do."

Several viewers were surprised to learn this was even possible, with one person asking: "Really? Even on international flights? I would love to see a cockpit but I always assumed the crew is busy enough to deal with smth like that."

"Definitely gonna try to get a little experience with my son next month, a second person commented, while a third added: "I remember seeing the cockpit as a little kid and it was so cool!"

Of course airline crew may not be able to accommodate your request every-time, but there's no harm in asking if it's something you've always been interested in.
