It's the end of a lengthy and stressful booking process and you're met with the final stage of it - seat selection - only to be informed you've got to fork out even more money to sit next to whoever you're travelling with.
Now, we've all been there, but one man in particular has recently reopened the heated debate about whether paying the extra fee is actually worth it after refusing to cough up in order to snag a seat next to his partner on a plane.

The situation has since split the internet right down the middle with some in total agreement with the bloke, while others are convinced his actions were evidence of a major 'red flag'.
The short clip was captioned: "That's just unnecessary costs," and has since gone viral on the platform after clocking up over 5.1 million views since it was posted only four days ago.
"All the couples are sitting together, but your man didn't think it was worth paying an extra 10 euros to choose a seat next to you," the overlay text on the TikTok reads.

With more than 355k likes and thousands upon thousands of comments, it's clear fellow jet-setters couldn't wait to share their verdict on the predicament.
Some claimed they wouldn't be fussed in the slightest if their partner did the same, with one TikTok user claiming: "That'd be absolutely fine by me. We have a whole holiday to spend together."
They make a fair point.

A second penned: "Just out of principle I don’t pay extra for a seat, the flight is expensive enough."
"Think about it," explained another, "with those 10 euros you can drink five coffees in your holiday. He thought about it already."
A fourth stated: "We spend the whole time together sometimes it is even good to not be sitting next to each other we have something new to tell to each other."
Others, however, claimed they'd be full-on outraged if their partner pied them off like that.

"I'd cry," commented one TikTok user.
A second warned: "It’s a red flag because 10 euros he can cut in other ways like not buying a morning coffee and pastry. If he cared he’d do it."

A third even warned the partner to 'run' over the whole situation, while a fourth couldn't wrap their heads around 'the audacity' of the bloke.
Some even went that one step further and really took their reasoning to the next level: "Nah I'm paying the €10.
"If the plane's going down I don't wanna spend my last minutes with a stranger."
