A woman on TikTok has sparked debate after she refused to give up her plane seat for a teenager who wanted to sit with their family.
The passenger in question had been allocated seat 1A, which is often seen as the best seat on a plane thanks to it being the first seat in the first row of the aircraft.

It's typically a window seat and usually has loads of legroom, too.
Oh, and did we mention it's often in first class?!
So you can see why you'd only want to give it up in certain circumstances, especially if you'd paid extra.
Sharing her experience on TikTok, @lifewithdrsabra explained: "POV: Flight agent asks me if I want to give up my 1A seat so a child sits with their family.

"That’s a no from me dawg would you have given up your seat?
"Also they ended up finding a solution so no, I am not a terrible human being. Also the child was like 13."
People were pretty divided on the video. While some agreed they would never move out of a 1A seat in those specific circumstances, others were less understanding.

One wrote: "As a mum, I’m on your side. If they wanted to sit together they should have made sure the seats were together."
While another said: "I worked overtime for 2 weeks to be able to upgrade my seat for comfort and experience. No way I would have given that up."
And a third added: "Last flight I took, they wouldn't let us choose seats until boarding. They sat my 4 yr old alone. Sometimes it's not poor planning by parents."
Meanwhile a fourth commented: "When I was 18 I did give up my window sweat so a child could sit with her mom. I kept thinking of how scared the child was."

Some people slammed the family for even asking the woman to switch her seat, but the TikToker clarified that she actually had no interaction with the family, adding that it was all through the airline.
"To clarify, the gate agent asked me, I asked to see the seat map, I didn’t like the alternative. They were kind and found a solution right away," she said.
"The family never addressed me. I think it was even the airline’s rule, not them asking to sit together."

What would you have done in this situation?
