If you ever happen to find yourself out on the open sea thinking it looks like an appealing patch of water to jump into for a bit, think again.
We'd say you never know what lurks beneath the water's surface but thanks to the magic of technology you can do just that without getting wet.
YouTubing angler Brant is no stranger to making his GoPro take the plunge so it can have a look at what's going on underwater, having previously shown us what it was like in the water beneath a pier.

In case you were wondering, there's lots of fish and even some particularly menacing looking sharks lurking down there, so do be careful not to go swimming where you don't know what's hanging around waiting to have a chomp at your expense.
He tried a similar trick out on the open sea, sticking a GoPro on the end of a fishing rod and lowering it from his boat to see what was beneath his hull.
Once again, the obvious answer that fish live underwater is right there for the camera to see, but Brant also spotted a shark with a chunk of its tail missing as it swam through.

I suppose you could find that to be a 'terrifying discovery' if the revelation that sharks live in the sea is a scary thought to you.
Or perhaps it's the creeping fear of the unknown that's supposed to terrify you as you ponder how the shark lost a chunk of its tail and remember the wise words that 'there's always a bigger fish'.
Brant's GoPro spotted a plethora of fascinating fish swimming beneath his boat to a depth of around 20ft and his footage might make you think twice about leaping into the sea before you know what's down there.
You might think it's exciting to take the plunge, but not into the jaws of a battle-hardened shark.

Brant's footage can show you the wonderful world which exists just below the surface of the water, as even while you're reading this, an incalculable amount of marine life is going about its daily business which would leave you stunned if only you could see it.
Since you can't then you'd best rely on cameras put down there, especially since jumping down to take a look yourself might bring you face to face with something that's got teeth and knows how to use them.
As long as it's still there to be witnessed then marine life is going to dazzle, delight and if we're not careful enough, devour us.
