As many of us are aware, breakups can be a rather messy thing to go through, so being in the public eye while going through a divorce is the kind of attention the majority of us cannot imagine.
Two of those people are footballer Gerard Piqué and singer Shakira, who announced they had split after 11 years last year.

While the celeb couple never tied the knot, they did have two children together.
Milan was born in January 2013, while Piqué and Shakira welcomed Sasha exactly two years later in January 2015.
But since they went their separate ways, Piqué and Shakira have not exactly been on good terms, with the former Barcelona footballer now hitting out at his ex's fans.

Speaking on the YouTube channel of Gerard Romero, the president of a seven-a-side football league created by Piqué, the retired footballer had some strong words for the fans of the 'Waka Waka' singer.
"I am very disappointed with what society is," he said.
"So my ex is Latin American... you don't know what I've gotten on social media from her fans. These people have no lives and you will never meet them."
Piqué continued: "I don’t care what people say, I do my things, I try to do my best. I’m at a point in my life where I’m super happy. From there, let everyone do their best."

Since Piqué and Shakira split last year, the ex-pro has officially started a new relationship with 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti, which was made public via Instagram in January.
That came after rumours of the breakup happening due to Piqué cheating on Shakira, though that was never confirmed by either party.
Shakira has now left Barcelona, where she resided with Piqué for many years, to start a new life with her children in Miami.

On Sunday (2 April), the singer took to social media to announce she would be starting a 'new chapter'.
“I established myself in Barcelona to give my kids stability, the same one we are now looking for in another corner of the world alongside my family, friends and the sea,” she shared.
“Today we start a new chapter in search of their happiness.”
She added: “Thank you to everyone that surfed with me in the Barcelona waves, the city in which I learned that friendship is longer than love. Thanks to everyone that helped me, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.

"Thanks to all my Spanish fans that gave me their loyalty and love. For you guys, it’s only a see you later and like my father said many times, we’ll see you on the curves."
