With Easter just days away, many are gearing up to gorge themselves on more chocolate than they could reasonably need.
But one holiday treat is coming under extra scrutiny on social media.

Creme Eggs are the Easter delight that we're all guilty of indulging in.
The tiny treats are chocolatey goodness, filled with an irresistible creamy goop.
I'm getting hungry just typing this, and I can imagine you're craving one as you read this.
But the amount of sugar contained in these eggs might give you pause.

An image has been circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter, which puts into perspective how much sugar is packed into one Creme Egg.
Let's just say, it's a lot.
The post shows a Creme Egg, alongside a mound of sugar and a 1p coin for comparison.

The image was shared by X user MuscleFoodUk, who wrote in the caption: "WHO KNEW - THAT A CREME EGG HAS QUITE A LOT OF SUGAR IN.
"But did you know it had THIS much sugar in it? Without being fun sponges - We AREN'T telling you not to enjoy Easter;
"In fact, we'll be enjoying it VERY MUCH over the next few weeks."
Okay, but heaps on a table can be subjective.

How much sugar is actually in a Creme Egg?
According to the Cadbury website, each 40g Creme Egg contains 177kcal, 6.1g of fat, 3.7g saturates, 0.06g salt and 26.5g of sugar.
The NHS says that anyone over the age of 11 should limit their daily sugar intake to 30g.

So, after one Creme Egg, you've not got a lot left to play with.
Let's break this down another way. The amount of sugar in one Creme Egg is equivalent to 6.6 TEASPOONS.
So, imagine having 6 teaspoons of sugar in your morning tea - it'd certainly perk you up.
But how do Creme Eggs compare to other chocolates?
A Crunchie has 26g of sugar in, a Mars Bar has 31g, a KitKit Chunky has 20.5g , and Wispa only has 19g in it.
Hopefully that will provide you with some comfort if you find yourself tucking into your third Wispa bar on Easter Sunday.
Once news of the Creme Egg's sugar content made it to social media, chocolate lovers were left crestfallen.
One person said: "This is how much sugar is in one little Creme Egg, imagine that, no more nice teeth for u."
Another added: "Wowsers! That's A LOT of sugar. I love a Creme Egg but this is shocking."
While a third wrote: "F**k off theres 26 g of sugar in a Creme Egg."
Another went big on the numbers, saying: "6 tsps sugar per Creme Egg. 15 eggs per big egg half is 90 tsp sugar. 30 eggs is 180 tsps sugar. That's nearly 1 bag of sugar! Hardcore."
I think I speak for all of us when I say that chocolate and maths don't mix.
