A load of people have been left confused and pretty grossed out upon finding out how often some dermatologists reckon you should be showering.
Now, obviously, everyone has their own take on this – some of us are once a day, some twice, some can take it or leave it given the day, and some – heaven help us – seem to only do it when absolutely necessary.
But, is there a right and a wrong amount?

Probably not, given that everyone has their own differences – some work really physical jobs, others don’t do anything.
If you went for a run after work and had already showered that day, you wouldn’t just leave it, would you?
Anyway, this whole debate was sparked off on US-based TV show Today with hosts Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer.

On the show in question they were joined by Adrianna Barrionuevo Brach, the editorial director of Shop Today.
There’s a segment on the show called ‘How Often Should You?’ during which Brach presents the question: “How often do you think you should shower per week, according to dermatologists?”
The multiple-choice answers were as follows: “Every day, two to three times a week, five times a week, or once a week.”
Dreyer reckoned five times per week, whereas Roker and Jones insisted on every day.

“I don’t care what they say,” Roker added.
However, Brach then presented the case that dermatologists reckon people should shower two or three times per week.
She explained: “The consensus is two to three times per week, but it does depend on the person. I’m looking at Al’s face like, ‘What is this?'
“It depends on the person, your lifestyle, your skin time, your age, your activity level, as well.”

Roker really wasn’t having it, and neither was Jones, but Brach said that the dermatologists suggested that too much showering could lead to skin problems like dry skin and eczema.
OK, but under-showering still sounds worse.
After they shared the clip on Instagram, the public had their say, too.

Dr. Sandra Lee – better known as Dr Pimple Popper – chimed in: “I am a dermatologist and I disagree.”
Medical dermatologist Dr. Corey Hartman added: “I disagree with this 100%.
“It’s way too hot for this mess...stop lying to these people.”
So, does this information change anything?
Are people suddenly going to start showering just twice per week, regardless of what they do all day?
Let’s hope not.
