Hugh Grant told Nigel Farage to “go f*** yourself” amid his suggestion for a net-zero referendum.
The Notting Hill actor tweeted the former Brexit Party leader on Saturday 5th March after Farage announced: “I am launching a new campaign to kill of Boris Johnson’s ruinous green agenda.”
“We demand a referendum on Net Zero”, the politician added of the strategy which aims to ‘decarbonise all sectors of the UK economy.

Farage then posted a screenshot of a Mail on Sunday article which explains his campaign, called Britain Means Business, against the green strategy, which the politician founded with Richard tice, his Leave Means Leave co-founder.
The 61-year-old actor quoted his tweet as he wrote: “Russian warship - go f*** yourself.”
The campaign demands that Johnson’s green policy is voted on being scrapped, while Farage describes it as “a scandal of epic proportions”.

Johnson and his government announced the net-zero strategy just before the Cop26 summit talks in October 2021.
The strategy outlined a plan for the UK to reach a target of net zero emissions by 2050, while many believed the policy did not provide enough investment for net-zero emissions to be achieved in this time frame.
Back in October, Johnson was slammed for leaving the summit via private jet after he was campaigning for the reduction of carbon emissions.
The Daily Mirror reported that Boris Johnson flew via private jet to a private members club, where he socialised with Lord Moore, Johnson's former editor at the Daily Telegraph.

The Prime Minister then came under fire for his "staggering hypocrisy".
Labour Party chair Anneliese Dodds MP said at the time: “This is staggering hypocrisy from the Prime Minister. After warning world leaders it’s one minute to midnight to prevent climate catastrophe, Boris Johnson clocked off from Cop26, jumped in his private jet and flew down to London for dinner at a gentlemen’s club with a self-confessed climate change sceptic.
“It seems that when it comes to taking action to tackle the climate crisis, there’s one rule for the Conservatives and another rule for the rest of the world.”
