It's a question that many couples find themselves asking: are we having enough sex? Well, a bone fide sexpert has now come out and answered that very question.
Jake Maddock is a relationship guru from Brisbane, Australia, and offers advice to couples about how to keep their spark alive.

And in a recent post to his TikTok account, he discussed the topic of sex, and whether we are getting enough of it.
He argues that sex is a key component to any relationship, with it having a number of benefits.
Maddock says getting down to businesses regularly can be good for our 'mental and physical health' as well as helping to regulate our hormones.
And who doesn't want a bit of that, eh?

In the video, Maddock was responding to a question about what is the correct amount of nooky to be having each week.
He says: "There's a whole bunch of science behind this. It's been shown with studies that it's very good for females to orgasm three times a week.
"It's good for their mental health, their physical health, it's good for their bodies.

"Good for men's hormonal regulation, mental health, physical health. There's lots of good things that happen.
"[Having sex] two to three times a week is also going to help you guys bond together really well."
He also said that it's easy for people in long-term relationships to get a bit 'lazy' and comfortable, which has a knock-on effect to the amount of sex couples have.
Maddock believes it's vital that couples are intimate with each other on a regular basis in order to keep it going.

He adds: "People in long-term relationships seem to get lazy and they go 'once a week is fin', 'once a month is fine', they just get lazier and lazier, and you drift apart.
"So two to three times a week really keeps people on track."
Last year, TikTok users lost their minds when a man put a video on discussing the average number of times people have sex in a year.

He said: "The average person has sex 54 times a year or so, looks like the next few days are gonna be pretty crazy for me."
But if Maddock is right, then couples should be really bumping up those numbers.
