Rockstar has reportedly shelved remasters of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption and is instead directing all their attention on Grand Theft Auto 6.
A trusted and reliable insider, Tez, has given everyone an alleged insight into what's happening behind closed doors.
"Remasters of [Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption 1] were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind," Tez said.
"The poor reception of the [GTA Trilogy] might be a reason behind that decision."

It very quickly caught the attention of Grand Theft Auto fans, as well as gamers who were itching to see a remaster of the visually impressive western open-world game Red Dead Redemption.
Some questioned if Tez's claims were true, with gaming news site Kotaku working to confirm the update.
"While some questioned if this was true, I can confirm that Tez’s tweet is accurate and lines up with what I’ve been told," Kotaku writer Zack Zwiezen said.
While you'd think people would welcome the news of a new game over a shiny, updated version of one they had already played, fans weren't all that impressed.

One social media user said: "So f**king disappointing, The damage that [developer] Grove Street Games has wrought all across Rockstar is actually insane, these remasters should’ve gone ahead to compensate for what happened with Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, not canned, I love Rockstar and their developers but their business decisions boggle the mind."
A second added: "Bruh... the Red Dead Redemption remake is the most obvious remake in the history of remakes. They already have most of the needed assets and content in Red Dead Redemption Two. They have new Austin, playable John, the gameplay and everything. They just need to remake Mexico and code missions again."
A third chipped in with: "It’s funny because the poor reception didn’t have anything to do with the games they chose, but with the quality [that] the studios remastered the games with. Simply don’t rush the product, or output to better studios. People want these remasters."

These updates from insiders only indicate what Rockstar is doing at the moment and there could be plenty of space for the developer to remaster GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption later on.
Tez also pointed out that Rockstar was also looking at fan reception when updating the GTA Trilogy as well as sales figures.
"Remasters of [Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption 1] remained on the table even when the Trilogy launched," he wrote on Twitter.
"Decision to green-light full production wasn't given just yet. Trilogy wasn't doing well not just sales, but fan reception as well."

So, if you were looking forward to the remakes for either game, looks like you will be waiting a while. Like, forever.
