A man has divided social media opinion by staging a kidnapping, in what may be the most controversial proposal of all time.
Adam Rizk sprung the surprise stunt on his girlfriend whilst they were on holiday in Lebanon. Who said romance was dead?

The Aussie decided it was the perfect time to pop the question to Vanessa Moujalli and decided that going the conventional route of a candlelit dinner and getting down on one knee wasn't for him.
In the video, Moujalli can be seen be driven in a car, before a group of men carrying weapons halted the vehicle and dragged her and her sister from their seats.
Moujalli can be heard screaming in terror, as she is blindfolded and shoved into another car.
As this is going on, a male voice can be heard saying "She is going to f**king lose it."

Later on, Moujalli is pulled from the car and led up a path where music begins playing.
Still shaken from the ordeal, Moujalli is crying as the blindfold is removed and she sees her boyfriend in front of her with a bouquet of flowers.

Rizk finally gets to the point, gets down on one knee and proposes to his stunned partner.
According to Rizk's sister, the proposal took three months of planning: "[Adam] always joked that he wanted to propose in a way to scare her and my family joined in and made it possible when she was visiting family in Lebanon.
"They always play pranks on each other so it's just their relationship … the overall planning took three months."

Given the extreme nature of the proposal, it's no surprise that it left TikTok users divided.
One critic wrote: "She's not crying cos he proposing.. she crying cause her life flashed before her eyes and she thought she was [dead]."
Another wrote: "I truly believe if you love someone and want to spend your life with you will never ever ever do this to them done."
Rizk's proposal didn't impress one TikTok commenter who simply wrote: "Nope. Single for the rest of my life."

Many other commenters made it clear that if they had been in Moujalli's place, the proposal would have been shot down straight away.
However, not everybody was quite so critical of Rizk's unconventional approach.
One person commented: "This gon be the worst and the best experience in her life."
Another remarked: "That's the best thing I have ever seen hahahaha your man's a good man."
To each their own, I suppose.
I would personally advise sticking to the classic dinner at sunset, but whatever.
