In the clip, the learner driver can be seen driving along a dual carriageway, where they’ve been tasked with following a route set by the examiner - who wasn’t The Young Instructor, in case you were wondering.
Speaking over the footage he explains: "On this dual carriageway, the student was asked to follow signs to the hospital.
"And as you can see on the top of your screen, he needs to get in the left lane.
"He changes lanes well and notices that there's some joining traffic."

It starts off well enough, but things quickly go awry.
The Young Instructor goes on: "In this situation, all he needed to do was let go of the gas a little bit but he decides to try and change lanes and the examiner has to yank the steering wheel to keep him on the left side."
At this point the examiner had to intervene, which probably left the learner in little doubt about how their test went.
The Young Instructor adds: "The examiner had to do this because the student failed to check their mirrors before changing lanes and as you can see, this lorry was in the process of overtaking.

"If the examiner wasn't there in this situation, the lorry would have most probably gone straight into the back of them, causing a very serious crash."
The clip has been viewed almost 500,000 times and has attracted plenty of comments from fellow TikTok users.
One said: “Should have changed lanes after the slip road or like you said back off the accelerator.”

Another wrote: “Should have stayed in lane two until past the slip road.”
Someone else added: “This is an example of failing for something you’d never do in real life but you would under the pressure of a test.”
But not everyone agreed, with one person commenting: “Shouldn't the car on the slip road adjust speed, and it's a junction and he should be giving way."
