Nineties-kids rejoice - someone has unearthed an original Mr Blobby costume and has put it up for sale on eBay - can you imagine turning up to the pub in it?
Back in the day, Saturdays weren’t complete without a trip to Crinkley Bottom to see Noel Edmonds and his energetic - and let’s be honest, absolutely terrifying - pal Mr Blobby. Refresh your memory and see him in action here:
Mr Blobby, portrayed by a bloke called Barry Killerby, first appeared on Noel’s House Party back in 1992 and stayed with the show until it ended in 1999.

Alongside his work with Noel, Mr Blobby carved out quite a career for himself - even managing to bag himself Christmas number one in 1993 with his narcissistically-titled track 'Mr Blobby'.
And now, you can own a bit of television - and musical - history as an original costume has been found and is up for sale on eBay.
Behold:

The buyer, who is very appropriately named blobby01, lists the ‘used’ item as ‘an original BBC costume from the mid-1990s’.
The listing reads: “This was made by the BBC’s costume supplier for an overseas version of Noel’s House Party.
“Unfortunately before it could be delivered the overseas show was cancelled and neither the broadcaster or the BBC’s production team wanted it – so it sat in my office until a move meant it came home with me some years ago.
“This costume is made of foam rubber covered with a rubber-type material with a shoulder support.”

Like most of us, Blobby has seen a few rough times over the years which is reflected in the fact that his arms aren’t attached and one of his eyes has seen better days.
The listing continues: “Consequently as it is now over 25 years old, there is the inevitable ageing to the foam and the rubberised coating. This means it is less suitable to be worn as the unit is not [as] supple as it was in 1996.”
“In addition the two arms require re-attaching to the body, one of the plastic eyes is cracked and the bow tie will need securing.

“Overall it’s not too bad for its age, but there is visible creasing and dust to the covering and some areas require a drop of glue to make good.”
The costume has had a smattering of bids - almost 50, to be exact - and is currently on sale for £3,800 but with six days left on the auction, Blobs might find himself going for a lot more than that.
