Piers Morgan has spoken out on how he feels about possibly replacing Phillip Schofield on This Morning.
After more than two decades on the air, Schofield announced his departure from the long-running ITV morning show in a surprise statement shared on Saturday (20 May).

Schofield’s last episode aired on Thursday (18 May) which he presented alongside his co-presenter Holly Willoughby, who will remain on This Morning and will co-present with new people.
One of the names people are apparently throwing into the pot for possible replacements for Schofield includes Morgan, who had a disastrous exit from presenting Good Morning Britain.
The broadcaster infamously stormed out of the set in 2021 during the fallout from Oprah Winfrey’s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Morgan walked off after he was confronted by Alex Beresford about not believing that Meghan Markle said she felt ‘suicidal’ during her time as a working member of the royal family.
Over 57,000 complaints were sent by viewers to Ofcom, including a complaint from the Duchess herself - although Morgan was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing.

He left the show in 2021, which he called ‘a farce’, and as of 2022, he now presents the weekday programme Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV.
Although the former Britain’s Got Talent judge is thankful that there are people who want him back on ITV as Schofield’s replacement, he said that it won’t happen and it’s all due to the person he can’t stop talking about - Meghan Markle.
In response to the calls for him to re-join the ITV family, Morgan managed to throw more unprovoked shots at the Duchess in an Instagram post shared on Sunday (21 May).

“Thanks to everyone suggesting I might replace Phillip Schofield as Holly Willoughby’ Scotland-host at This Morning in a Lazarus-like comeback to ITV,” he declared in the post, which features a picture of himself with Willoughby.
“Unfortunately, there’s just one problem: I still don’t believe a single word Meghan Markle says!”
Instagram users weighed in on Morgan’s bizarre response, with one person writing: “You really do have such an obsession with her!!!! It’s quite embarrassing.”
Another commenter shared: “Any excuse to mention Meghan Markle, eh?!”

However, some people agreed with the talk show host. One fanatic wrote: “Seriously you would make the show more entertaining!!”
While another social media user chimed in and shared: “Who cares about Meghan. You’d be a brilliant host.”
In his announcement released on Saturday, Schofield shared: “I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
