In the current heatwave, many of us mightn’t be able to think of anything worse than being glued to their partner in a less-than-delicious mix of sweat, in an attempt to enjoy some rumpy-pumpy.
But if you are braving the heatwave in the bedroom, there’s one sex position in particular that you should avoid, for the sake of both your sanity.
We spoke to sex expert Ruby Payne about her exclusive top tips for having sex in a heatwave, so you can heat things up without reaching meltdown.

Ruby, a sex expert at UberKinky, has recommended that lovers avoid positions ‘where body friction is on the cards’.
“So think bodies sticking and sliding on each other”, she says. Just thinking about that sounds anything but pleasurable, to be honest.
But it’s bad news for wine, dine and 69 fans - the world’s most popular oral sex position is strictly off limits in this weather.

Ruby tells us: “The 69 position is best avoided because it obviously means bodies are super-close together, rubbing down. And even if you do it on the side, there’s more contact with the bed fabrics.”
Don’t stress, though, oral sex can still very much be had even in this weather - just not mutually.
“Stick to the ‘unmutual’ kind of oral in a heatwave,” Ruby instead suggests. “Oral sex is a great way to knock down the heat, but only in the temperature sense, of course.

“You can even bring temperature play into the mix; ice cubes, cold drinks and sex toys can give cooler sensations - glass dildos are perfect for this.”
And don’t even think about wearing leather. “The last thing you need is some sweaty build-up on bodies from black, dark accessories," she adds. "Save them for the cooler periods.”
Elsewhere in the world of science and sex, experts have identified the most and least pleasurable sex positions for heterosexual women to reach an orgasm.

IFL Science reports that researchers from private gynaecology clinic New H Medical in New York assessed the blood flow to the clitoris during different sexual positions.
Scientists used an ultrasound scanner to study a volunteer couple, which the research paper describes as a ‘healthy medical doctor couple, both 32 years old', who engaged in popular positions for 10 minutes, including missionary, face-to-face and ‘rear entry’, aka doggy style.
