People think LA just made ‘greatest Olympics closing ceremony ever’ as Dr Dre comes out to perform with Snoop Dogg

Hip-hop legends Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg took to the stage to complete the Olympic flag handover

Viewers watching the Olympics closing ceremony think that it may be one of the greatest ever, after seeing hip-hop legends Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg take to the stage.

The Olympic flag handover involved Tom Cruise jumping off the roof of the Stade de France to collect it from Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and Team USA gymnast Simone Biles.

After it reached the Los Angeles beach, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and then Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg performed hit songs of their own in front of a hyped crowd.

Viewers loved it, as one said on X: "Dre and Snoop sooo LA, I love it," with three crying emojis.

Another posted: "Best @Olympics closing ceremony ever!!! @drdre & @SnoopDogg!!"

A third shared: "The American part of the closing ceremony was EPIC!!! Bravo America, and au revoir Paris #Olympic2024".

One other excited viewer commented: "That takes me back in time seeing & hearing ’The Next Episode’ by Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg."

The rap legends rounded off an impressive Olympics closing ceremony that began in Paris, but ended on a beach in Los Angeles, with arguably their most popular tune, 1999 hit 'The Next Episode', after Snoop performed solo song, 'Drop It Like Its Hot'.

An entertaining closing ceremony began with athletes tripping over the loose carpet on the Stade de France pitch, followed by some great banter by BBC commentator Andrew Cotter and even the realisation that the stage at the arena was actually shaped as a world map.

After a man was seen eating some noodles or pasta behind an orchestra, Tom Cruise was spotted atop the stadium, when he descended on a rope in a Mission Impossible-style stunt to signal the passing of the flag from France to the US.

But that all concludes over two weeks of top level sports competition, and now we'll have to wait four years for the next games, in the United States of America.
