Olympics viewers issue complaint over Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish and Red Hot Chili Peppers closing ceremony performance

Olympics viewers issue complaint over Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish and Red Hot Chili Peppers closing ceremony performance

The unexpected lineup of artists was met with one complaint

Tom Cruise performing breathtaking stunts, music from Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billie Eilish - there was certainly plenty to love about the Olympics closing ceremony.

Yet some people are definitely not happy, and it's all down to one very annoying detail.

Here's how it all went down: Tom Cruise kicked things off, jumping off the top of the Stade de France, before a woman in the crowd attempted to make out with him.

Cruise managed to shrug the woman off and went up to the stage to receive the Olympic flag.

He then made his way out of the stadium by driving off on a motorbike, followed by a pre-recorded segment.

It showed the actor drive off into a plane, as the stuntman decided to do an incredible sky dive out of the aircraft to land on American soil.

Cruise took the flag with him to pin it on LA's iconic Hollywood sign.

After the flag was passed, it arrived in the sunshine state - although there was some confusion as to whether this was Venice Beach or Long Beach - where the Red Hot Chili Peppers were there to perform 'Can’t Stop'.

Billie Eilish performed her song 'Birds of a Feather' before Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre closed off the beach performance.

However, viewers were not best pleased by the pre-recorded segment and some wondered why people in the stadium didn't get the full experience.

Taking to social media, one person commented: "So...is there LA section just being shown on screens in Paris?"

A second added: "Kinda sucks that they couldn't have these people performing in Paris so it's all together.

"Imagine being all excited in the stadium and having to watch on the screens. #ClosingCeremony."

While a third wrote: "Would be a bit disappointing to be in the Paris stadium and then to have the USA handover so far consist of a pre recorded Tom Cruise video package and now the live performances of Red Hot Chilli peppers & Billie Eilish on the stadium screens #ClosingCeremony."

"Nice handover and gig in LA. Are there large screens in the Stade de France? Asking for 90,000 people… #Paris2024," a fourth person sarcastically remarked.

"Long pauses, awkward silences. Shame these performers didn't come to the SDF to perform instead of the athletes craning their necks on the big screens," someone else said.

Well, clearly not everyone felt the same way as some viewers said the LA segment was 'the most exciting part' of the closing ceremony.

"It amazes me how people can be negative about absolutely everything. That closing ceremony was really good. The transition to LA was fantastic," another added.
