If you've ever taken a ride in an Uber you'll know that at the end of the trip you get to rate your driver, and they get to rate you.
Those with a high rating are justly proud of their score, which marks them out as a person of great distinction and quality.
Those who don't are obviously quite aggrieved that the damn driver gave them a bulls**t rating which will mess up their score.

If you want to know exactly what's behind that main score you can go digging around in your app settings to learn just how many of each rating you've received.
It's pretty easy, just open up the app and go to your account, then tap settings, hit privacy and you should see a bubble saying: "Would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber?"
Hit 'see summary' on that and it'll give you a breakdown of your activity with Uber, along with a display of the ratings you've received.

Now you can see the numbers behind your rating, and whatever is bringing you down from that perfect five stars.
Your rating gives you the average score of your last 500 trips, so if you end up being the Uber passenger from hell it's going to take a very long time to shuffle that bad score off your rating.
Plenty of people have been checking out their rating this way and most of them have got a plethora of five stars along with a smattering of other scores.
Lots of people were proud of their high scores and admitted that their overall rating was 'probably fair' as they'd forgotten some of the trips they'd taken.

Someone else thought their ratings were unfair as they got a bunch of one and two star ratings and wrote: "Idk why. I don’t even drink. I’m always polite, even if i don’t want to talk to them if they engage I’ll reciprocate."
An Uber driver chipped in to say they'd given only about three one star reviews for passengers in three years, and that was with working the dreaded night shift.
You probably have to be quite bad to get a one star score, and someone else commented that their pair of one star ratings were 'the two times I s**t myself in an Uber'.

That poor driver.
Obviously the rating your driver gives you is going to depend on a lot of things, if you were sick in the taxi and spent the entire ride shouting 'w**ker' out of the window you shouldn't expect to maintain your perfect rating.
Making conversation with your cabbie can be pretty difficult as well, as you might be flailing around for the right thing to say.
For lots of taxi drivers the thing they want to hear from passengers is either total silence or you telling them they can stick their music back on.

Others said they liked being asked about what there was to do in the local area, because if there's anyone who is going to know a place it's the people who drive taxis around it.
