Frustrated iPhone users complain new glitch is making them late for work

iPhone users have been on Reddit complaining about a weird glitch that some say made them late getting up

iPhone users claim that they’ve been experiencing an unusual problem with their devices, causing them to be late for work.

Basically, it seems as if some people are noticing that their phone keeps turning off overnight, meaning that their alarm doesn’t go off.

Users have been taking to Reddit in an attempt to find out what the problem is, but so far there have been no real answers.

The iPhone users have been waking up and finding that their phone wants them to use their PIN code to unlock the phone instead of face recognition, which is an indicator that the phone has been turned off and turned on again.

But, if they aren’t restarting their devices, why is it happening?

Apparently the iPhone glitch is making people late.

Other people have noticed that the battery health display on their phone has a gap in it, another suggestion that the phone might have been off for a while unexpectedly.

On at least one occasion, it caused someone to be late, as their alarm didn’t go off and they therefore slept in.

The issue was raised online by Reddit user 9to5Mac, who responded after a reporter noticed that Face ID wouldn’t work without first entering the passcode.

The user said: “This morning I happened to wake up at like 5AM on my own, late for work, and noticed the alarm screen was up with the snooze option on it, but my phone didn't wake me up.

“I assumed that maybe I slept through my alarm, which is still odd, because it's never happened.

“I went to work (from home), and my son normally gets up at 7:30 AM for work, and at about 7:50 I noticed I hadn't seen him milling around the house, so I knocked on his door, and there he was sleeping, and he said ‘I didn't even hear my alarm’.

“I told him what happened to me and he held up his phone and it had the alarm screen on it like mine did.”

Very strange indeed.

This user isn’t alone, either.

One person wrote a comment that said: “Came directly to this sub to see if it was just me. My alarms also did not go off this morning.”

A third person wrote: “Dude neither did mine, WTF?”

If you want to check whether your iPhone has been off during the night, you can go to the Battery section in Settings and look at the graph for your battery health.

If it’s got some time unaccounted for, the phone has probably been off.

Some have complained that they were made late by their phone.

On Reddit, someone said: “Check your battery section. Does it show the phone turned off for a few hours? My alarm went off this morning, but it required my code to unlock and shows it turned off around 1am. Bunch of people ran into this yesterday.”

This seems to have been affecting owners of a variety of iPhone devices, not just those with a new 15 model.

It could be that the issue is with the iOS 17 software, rather than with specific models.

LADbible has contacted Apple for a comment.
