Photos of one of the most horrific theme parks ever have been shared, and it makes for grim viewing.
You may have heard of Action Park before - the theme park was located in New Jersey, USA, and it was one of the country's more popular theme parks.
However, it was shut down in 2016 after six visitors died on attractions at the park, with one ride in particular, the Alpine Slide, even having a chilling warning sign at its entrance.

In 1980, a 19-year-old died on the Alpine Slide after the brakes on his toboggan cart broke, sending him flying off the track to hit his head fatally against a rock.
The infamous theme park had an HBO documentary centred around it, titled Class Action Park, back in 2020. You can watch the trailer below:
The park also featured the dangerous 'Cannonball Loop' slide, where riders did a full loop-the-loop. Volunteers were offered money to try the slide out, which would leave visitors with cuts that were caused by teeth that had gotten stuck in the slide from previous riders.
Sounds lovely, doesn't it?

Action Park's wave pool was also notorious - up to 30 people had to be rescued every day and three people died.

Well, all of this didn't stop the park from being a hotspot for Americans in the 80s and 90s in particular.
The theme park was so fun that many people didn't really mind the threat of serious injuries, showing off their scrapes and bruises.
Radio station New Jersey 101.5 asked its listeners to send in their memories from previous visits to Action Park.

Former visitor Dondi Rivera explained that he went on the infamous Alpine slide back in 1987, he said he 'flew off that thing and scraped [his] elbows and chest.'
He continued: "The tube slide: Banged my head inside that tube before shooting out into water. Also the large inflatable round raft.
"We'd have like 5 or 6 people on it, one of my friends banged his face against the back head of another friends. Blood everywhere."

Also visiting the water park in the late 80s', Victor Galletto remembers that everyone he went with got injured with 'scrapes and burns', on a ride he can't recall the name of.

A visitor from 1980, Victor Bove, said that he was left with 'a scraped back and wedgie', even sending the radio station a cheeky 'lol' at the end of it.
Maybe we have gone soft, because I don't think anyone nowadays would willingly visit a theme park that gave visitors injuries.

Not everyone was left with severe injuries though, as John Feddersen shared that he visited the park in 1987, adding: “No major injuries but we always would show off our scrapes, bumps, burns and cuts as trophies…”
It may not sound appealing in the 20th century, but Action Park was the place to go back in the day. For some reason.
