Hawk Tuah girl speaks out for the first time and confirms her future plans

Hawk Tuah girl speaks out for the first time and confirms her future plans

Hailey Welch has finally broken her silence on what going viral as the Hawk Tuah Girl has been like

Due to the fact Hawk Tuah Girl just sang her heart out on stage with Zach Bryan in Nashville, she hasn't got much reason to keep her mouth shut about going viral any longer.

She proved her gob can do more than just muster up a lot of spit after joining the country music star, 28, to sing his hit 'Revival' in front of thousands of fans at the Nissan Stadium on Saturday (June 29).

So it was only a matter of time before Hailey Welch finally satisfied all of our curiosity and spoke out about going viral.

The 21-year-old made an appearance on a podcast which Bryan's girlfriend, Brianna Lapaglia, hosts titled Plan Bri Uncut to discuss how her life has changed since her spitting skills gained serious traction online.

It seems the famous couple have really taken a liking to the Hawk Tuah Girl, huh.

Anyway, without further ado - Welch rubbished a lot of misconceptions that have been floating around on social media about her, including that she works as a teacher and that her dad is a preacher.

Both of these bits of gossip are untrue, as she actually works at a spring factory in her hometown of Belfast, Tennessee, and was getting ready to start a shift at 2.00am when she realised her bedroom tips had gone viral.

The online star explained she had deleted all of her social media accounts a while ago for 'personal reasons' and presumed that she would 'never see' the footage of her street interview with YouTuber duo Tim and Dee TV.

How wrong was she, eh?

"It was massive," Welch said of the reaction to the video online. "I was like, 'Oh, this was kind of funny, it's not going to get any bigger than this'.

"I go back like an hour later and the views went up by like a million - I was like, 'Oh my God, there is no way that just happened'. But sure enough, it did."

Welch said she 's**t a brick' when she learned that her Hawk Tuah trick had been seen around the globe, but thankfully, her family saw the funny side of it.

After Lapaglia asked her about their reactions to the footage, she responded: "They think it's so funny. They know how I am, because you can never tell what's going to come out of my mouth.

"I mean it's a hit or a miss what comes out of my mouth. I just talk out of my ass. The one time I say something like that, of course, there's a camera in my face."

It's not all been bad though, as Welch has been cashing in on her explicit catchphrase after launching a line of merch sporting the risqué slogan that none of us have been able to get out of her heads.

Last week, the owner of the family-owned business, Fathead Threads, that she is collaborating with on trucker hats said that they had already sold just over 2,000 of them, earning an estimated $65,000 (£51,329).

But although she's made a few quid, Welch said she doesn't want Hawk Tuah to 'be her image'.

She continued: "I don't want to be known as that. It was funny, I was being a little bit of a smart ass too because like you're going to come watch me with a microphone and ask me something like that...

"Oh well, I'm going to 'Hawk Tuah' and spit on it. I don't mean nothing by it."

Welch's pal Chelsea - who people reckoned 'flawlessly' set her friend up to share her hilarious anecdote - also joined her on the podcast and admitted that they had both forgotten they had even taken part in the video.

She said she reckons her mate should 'absolutely' take advantage of being Hawk Tuah Girl and the opportunities that come with it.

"I love her personality and the fact that the world gets to see it - and they obviously love it too - so I think she should just keep going," Chelsea said.

Welch then added: "You can tell I'm obviously joking in it, I don't mean nothing by it."

Discussing her plans for the future, she said: "I think we're going to do a show and then we're just going to be like on a bunch of podcasts and everything else in between. There's more to come don't worry, there's more to come."
