Footage shows police approaching the wife of Weezer's bassist as she was shot after pointing a gun at them

Jillian Shriner was absentee booked on suspicion of attempted murder after she was shot by LA police

Footage has now emerged of the moment Jillian Shriner, also known as Jillian Lauren, was approached by police after she allegedly pointed a gun at them.

The 51-year-old wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner was apprehended by police on Tuesday (8 April) after reportedly taking shots at a suspect from a nearby hit-and-run.

It is reported that following a hit-and-run on a freeway near the Eagle Rock neighbourhood of Los Angeles, one of the three suspects fled the scene and removed some of his clothing, before finding himself in a local residential area.

This then attracted the attention of Lauren, who allegedly then came out of her house holding a gun, and she was reportedly able to take a number of shots and even aimed her gun at the police, authorities said.

She was not involved in the hit-and-run itself.

After a number of attempts by the cops to calm her down, where they repeatedly asked her to drop the weapon, she was shot in the shoulder and retreated into the house.

Around 30 minutes later she emerged alongside a family babysitter and surrendered to police, with the footage showing the moment she came out with her hands on her head. Take a look:

She was then taken to hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening shoulder wound, where she was later absentee booked by police on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to KLTA, Lauren and the babysitter have since been released from police custody.

The incident occurred as Weezer were confirmed as a last-minute addition for this weekend's Coachella festival in California.

The LA rock band, who have hits such as Buddy Holly, The Sweater Song and Say It Ain't So, are scheduled to appear in the Mojave tent on April 12 at 3.10pm, but the performance may well be in doubt following this shocking revelation.

A neighbour, Kathleen, also gave an interview to Fox 11 Los Angeles at the scene.

She said: "It's shocking for this little community. We're a really quiet neighbourhood, sort of nestled in a little valley between hills, and you drive by on the 130 all the time. But these people crashed and started running, so they found us. But ordinarily, it's really quiet."

LADbible has contacted the LAPD and Weezer for further comment.
