Peruvian officials have interrupted a press conference showcasing an 'alien mummy' with three fingers and toes in an attempt to seize the specimen.
The event was hosted by infamous ufologist Jaime Maussan, who unveiled the 'alien mummy' named Montserrat.
The 70-year-old previously made headlines when he introduced the world to two centuries-old 'alien corpses' found in a diatom mine in the city of Cusco, Peru.

Legal proceedings were later started against Maussan for allegedly stealing them from their country of origin.
In recent months, he has been claiming to have 'definitive proof' of so-called tridactyl mummies, due to them having three fingers and toes.
Now, Maussan has unveiled Montserrat, who alongside having the distinctive digits, is claimed to have been pregnant when she died.

But, in a wild turn of events, officials from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and specialised police officers storming the event in an attempt to seize the 'alien mummy'.
Taking over the mic, they said: "Sorry for the interruption, we are taking an unexpected preventive action with the Ministry of Culture and the Specialised Cultural Heritage Police regarding the exhibition of the tridactyl mummies that you have reported on social networks."
However, their plan to seize the specimen failed spectacularly due to Montserrat not even being present at the event.

Instead, Maussan was carrying out a video presentation on the tridactyl mummy.
Following the interruption, researcher and journalist Jois Mantilla cheekily invited the officials to stay and watch the 15-minute video.
While the mummified body can't yet be dismissed as fake, scientists say that it is likely made of human bones that had been dug up by looters to sell on the black market.
In a report by NeedToKnow, science writer Mick West said: "There are many reasons why the Peruvian government might want to take action against Jamie Maussan's alien mummy."

He added: "Grave robbery? Illegal transportation of human remains? Smuggling of archaeological artefacts? Fraud? We'll have to wait and see."
It wouldn't be the first time one of Maussan's 'discoveries' had turned out to be fake.
His greatest hits include the 'Metepec Creature,' which later turned out to be a skinned monkey, and the 'Demon Fairy' which was actually the remains of a bat, padded out with some wooden sticks and epoxy resin.

He's has also received the great honour of being inducted into the UFO Watchdog Hall of Shame for UFO-related false claims and fraud attempts.
We're betting on Montserrat joining the list at some point...
