This made her the first woman to win what is considered to be the biggest and most difficult horse race in the UK, the Aintree Grand National.
To top it all off, Blackmore is also the winner of BBC World Sport Star, RTE Sportsperson, Irish Times Sportswoman, Irish Independent Sportsperson, Her Sport Sportswoman and Horse Racing Ireland’s Racing Hero Awards.
Speaking of her success with a difference horse, A Plus Tard, she told ITV in a previous interview: “You can’t do this without the horses and being attached to Henry’s yard is just absolutely phenomenal.
“To give me this horse is unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. I’ve had so many special days. I wouldn’t swap the Grand National for anything, but this is the Gold Cup. I wish I had something better to say right now. I just can’t.”
